I'm not sure how it happened, apparently it was my idea, but, in a moment of madness we ran our intervals on a hill today. This felt like the toughest workout ever. I really wanted to go run my second repeat somewhere flat but I sucked it up! It's surprising how fast your lungs recover, the worst thing was the mile jog back down the hill as we knew exactly what was waiting for us at the bottom! My flat mile time for intervals should be 7.50, I couldn't do that on the hill (+144 climb) but I wasn't tooooo far off;
Mile 1 - 8.07
1 mile recovery
Mile 2 - 8.05
I can't believe I did the second one faster! Mike was a total speed demon, his target pace was 6.01 and he ran both intervals in 5.59! I don't know how he does it! We also did just over a quarter mile warm up for a total of 3.3 miles, we were both wiped out afterwards. It was a great workout though and I'm sure it will have been great for my legs, as soon as I've forgotten how awful it felt I'll be doing it again for sure!
Anyway I'm going to keep it short and sweet tonight as I'm not very awake anymore.. Just went downstairs to feed the cat and forgot to feed the cat... She's been fed now! Before I go head on over to read my story on (never home)maker. I'm really chuffed to be featured on such a great blog!

Good job girl! I actually like to do hill repeats - I think I may be just a wee bit crazy ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt was great to see you on (never home) maker! Thanks for making your way over to my blog too :)
ReplyDeleteGreat workout on the hills! Sounds really tough! All my running routes have hills and sometimes I just want a flat area!
ReplyDeletehills are SO hard!! great job! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteYou are inspiring me to get my butt out there and to do some hill repeats! It has been sometime since I have taken time aside just for hill repeats. I live in a city that is full of hills but it is not the same thing:) I hope that you, Mike and all of your animal children are doing well:) Give Roxie a hug for me!
